Technical Writer

Responsiblities

  • Develops a thorough understanding of the audience and the documentation required by meeting with colleagues, SMEs and working with managers to discuss technical problems
  • Researches and builds knowledge about products, services, technologies, and concepts to be documented
  • Together with the Manager Technical Writing determines the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greater reader comprehension, and writes and edits technical information accordingly
  • Maintains information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration
  • Prepares or commissions graphics and illustrations to complement task instructions and processes
  • Works with Application and Infrastructure teams to ensure the finished documentation meets product requirements
  • Researches , creates, writes and updates instructions, technical guides and FAQs by working closely with various departments and various systems to understand the project requirements Independently gathers information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
  • Works with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage
  • Able to change priorities, follow project schedules and meet tight deadlines
  • Develops content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation
  • Curates information from across multiple product and technology teams to update and augment release documents, support articles and informative content for users
  • Expected to plan own work and manage assigned documentation to meet given objectives
  • Reports progress and status of projects with minimal direct supervision
  • Work with management to review status of projects, performance targets, strategies and operations.
  • Engage all relevant stakeholders and secure the requisite reviews and sign‐offs on

Qualifications

  • Technical Communication Degree (preferred)
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio, SnagIt and SharePoint
  • Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodology
  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure functions and inter‐relations and dependencies between teams
  • Proven ability to effectively multi‐task, prioritize and execute tasks with multiple competing priorities while meeting project deadlines
  • Demonstrated history of delivering results and improvements to areas of responsibility
  • Customer service oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact with team members, senior support personnel and stakeholders

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, or Information Technology
